Solid Surface: why we should choose it

Solid Surface: why we should choose it

All of the advantages of a Solid Surface top in the kitchen, but also in the bathroom

Increasingly appreciated by consumers for their extraordinary and functional features, the so-called Solid Surfaces have been meeting with a great success over the last few years. But which are their real advantages and above all, what are they like? First of all, they feature different trade names – Corian DuPont, Hi-Macs, Okite and many others – and they are highly resistant, scratchproof, bacteriostatic, long lasting and velvety to the touch. They are composed of a blend of minerals, in particular bauxite, used as raw material for aluminium production, as well as acrylic resins or polyester and pigments, processed through chemical and thermal treatments that lead to the development of sheets or different shapes.
Other virtues of these surfaces highly appreciated by internationally renowned architects and designers are their considerable shape versatility and the lack of continuity solution and porousness that ensure quite a simple and perfect cleaning. Last but not least, a top in this material does not need any special maintenance. For Solid Surface, usually total white is selected and the material can be used for different end-uses: from kitchen tops to tubs, from washbasin to shower trays, but even for the most different objects. It is often used for the outdoor, since it also resists against bad weather and weathering. Thus the presence of a Solid Surface either in a kitchen or in a bathroom certainly represents a value added, as well as a touch of undisputed contemporary design.
