Moroso: the latest proposals
In-between tradition and innovation, Moroso’s creations presented at Salone 2016 combine aesthetics and comfort
At the latest Salone Milan, the ever glamorous and eclectic Moroso brand introduced nine collections signed by highly talented designers: Patricia Urquiola, Daniel Libeskind, Alfredo Haberli, Doshi&Levien, Tord Boontje, Front, Edward van Vliet, Scholten&Baijings and young Spanish Mermelada. Unique and original is also the rock-style proposals designed with the creative team of Diesel Living. But let’s discover in detail some of the new creations, such as the Cradle chaise longue designed by Benjamin Hubert, which embodies a unique blend between two types of chairs: a rid hammock and a traditional padded chaise longue. It features a pattern equipped with expressly made cuts, which gives the non-elastic fabrics a 3D value. On the other hand the Ottoman project, design Scholten & Baijings, is quite Oriental-style: Ottoman history offers excellent examples of decorative fabrics for the interior design combined with low chairs, favouring social interactions of guests. The images evoked by Ottoman chairs are: sipping tea, smoking the water pipe or the happiness of a shared dinner. Thus a “slow” joy, clashing with all what is fast. With the new collections, Moroso shows once again its innovative nature as the brand of upholstery sofas and chairs for top of the range furnishing. Thanks to its craftsmanship on an industrial scale, this brand has made it possible, since its debut, the meeting of design with contemporary art and fashion, quite a rare combination that is difficult to imitate.
