Completed Projects Shiro Kuramata Shirō Kuramata (倉 俣 史 朗 Kuramata Shirō ?; Tokyo, November 29, 1934 – February 1, 1991) was a Japanese designer who is considered one of the most important Japanese designers of the 20th century. His style combines the refinement of traditional Japanese decorative arts with the essentiality of modern design. His contribution in the search for new materials is also noteworthy, in particular as regards transparent polymethylmethacrylate.
